Theodora M. Marsh

1867 - 1936

In 1913, at a time when it was generally assumed that women were incapable of understanding the complexities of the business world, Theodora M. Marsh was the President and Business Manager of the George B. Marsh Company in Nogales, Arizona, one of the largest commercial enterprises on the border with Mexico. Her skills and business acumen enabled her to continue to grow and start additional companies through the years. In 1916 she became the first woman to represent Santa Cruz County in the legislature. She was also the first women appointed to the Arizona Board of Regents in 1923.
